Our Beginnings

How Lighthouse Began...

We want to share a few words about our beginnings at what we affectionately call "The Lighthouse."  We want to shine Jesus' love and be a refuge for all the needy, which includes us.  Though our beginnings were indeed God-given, everyday since has been an ongoing beginning.  "Christ in us, the hope of glory" gives that!

We began back in 1994 as a small gathering of three couples who were serving together as Youth Staff at a local church in Fremont.  With the blessing of the elders, we started to meet as a Bible Study in Pastor Ken's home to explore the possibility of launching a church.

Expanding the vision...

In a few months, the study had swelled to over 55!  Our first service was on Easter Sunday in 1995 at a local hotel.  It was not long before we outgrew the conference rooms.  God provided some retail space in what was formerly the Glenmoor Shopping Center where we met until 1998.

How Things Came Together...

At the exact same time we reached our capacity at Glenmoor, the landlord gave us notice that a residential development was planned for the shopping center.  The day of our notice, we were contacted by the First Baptist Church of Fremont concerning the possibility of a merger. In meeting with their gracious leadership, they decided to give their facility to us at 280 Mowry Avenue, title deed and all!  God-given miracle, for sure!  Our first service together was February 1, 1998, and we have continued here ever since.
